Village Shalom is excited to announce its plans for a 225,000 square foot community expansion and repositioning that adds 73 independent living residences, a Main Street common area with dining, service and entertainment amenities, a free-standing 48-residence Household Model memory care community complete with an adult day care center, 24 boutique-style short-term rehabilitation suites and a state-of-the-art 5,000 square foot therapy space.

We are now accepting priority applications for the independent living phase of the project. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2018 with an anticipated completion in 2019.

Expansion Components

1. Independent Living Apartments

A newly constructed four-story building that connects to the Village Shalom main campus will house 60 independent living apartments. The building will feature one and two bedroom floor plans ranging from approximately 800-1,500 square feet. Each will feature a full kitchen, living and dining areas, and a private outdoor balcony or patio space. Most apartments also feature a den and a half-bath for guests. 

2. Courtyard Villas

The courtyard villas will be a hybrid of our existing attached villas that will be constructed on a lot adjacent to our existing independent living villa community. The three-story building will house 13 residences – each estimated to be approximately 1,350 square feet. The courtyard villas will have two bedrooms and two full-baths. They will also feature a den and private outdoor space – many of which look onto an outdoor community courtyard.  

The apartments and villas all feature modern appliances, high-end finishes and abundant natural light. Each residence also includes underground/underbuilding parking and a private storage area.

3. Main Street 

A highlight of the expansion is the new 12,000 square foot Main Street that will serve as the hub of independent living as well as a campus connector to the new independent living apartments. Main Street is expected to include an independent living dining venue, a pub, theater, library, media center, and day spa. The area will also feature an adjacent outdoor dining and entertainment area. 

4. Memory Care Community

The new free-standing memory care community will be constructed on the northwest side of Village Shalom’s campus. The community will be built and staffed as a true Household Model with four 12-resident households – two for assisted living, and two for skilled nursing. The community will have its own therapy space, salon and chapel. It also features a separate adult day care center for participants from the community at-large. 

 5. Short-term Rehabilitation & Therapy Center

A major renovation of our existing memory care area will create a boutique-style short-term rehabilitation center. The renovation will create 24 private suites – each with its own shower and modern finishes. 

The repurposing will also free-up more than 5,000 square feet for the creation of a new therapy gym – nearly double the size of our existing therapy space. The gym will feature state-of-the-art equipment, treatment areas, an outdoor rehabilitation garden and potentially a separate area for aquatic therapy.

Interest Levels

We intend to presell the majority of the new independent living residences prior to breaking ground in early 2017. Three programs have been developed based on various levels of interest. 

The Wellspring is a program for those who wish to stay informed on project details as they emerge. The Wellspring is free to join, simply fill out a card at the front desk, call 913-266-8300 or complete an online request form. As a member of The Wellspring, you will always be apprised of the latest developments. 

The Waterfall is for those interested in establishing priority for the pre-sale process that will begin later this fall. Those who put down a fully refundable $1,000 expression of interest deposit will be assigned a priority number based on the order in which their deposit is received. At the time of reservation, Waterfall members will have established priority for selecting the home of their choice. 

The Fountains is for those who wish to secure their residence prior to construction. Once this phase begins, small groups will be called based on priority numbers assigned during The Waterfall phase. At this time, individuals will have the opportunity to secure their actual floor plan and location with a 10% entrance fee deposit.
