Gallery shelves of color-coded objects invite visitors to bring in and trade goods in this installation and interactive self-guided project.

A Bird in the Hand…

In this online (www.kcjmca.org) and self-guided gallery project, visitors may submit photographs of their hands holding objects and messages about the object’s special meaning for a future KCJMCA exhibition and book.

Salon Art Wall

Framed blank surfaces installed on the gallery wall invite visitors to share in the creation of a series of collaborative paintings that become part of the exhibition in this interactive self-guided project.

Artist Trading Cards

Create your own unique work of art on one of the 2.5x3.5” artist cards provided by the Epsten Gallery and trade with others who participate in this self-guided project.

Open Book – Library Exchange

Bring, share and swap your unwanted and gently used books to inspire other’s creativity and take home a good read in this book sharing library.

7-9 p.m.: Christina M. Fox: Yad B’yad – Beautifying the Mitzvah

Floral Designer, Instructor, and American Institute of Floral Designers Member Christina M. Fox will provide a classroom demonstration and individual instruction to help participants create flower arrangements to enliven their Shabbat table. Participants also will learn the role flowers and aesthetics play in Jewish text and tradition. (All materials included.)

Artist Michael Schonhoff and Art Therapist Amy Nadler MA-ATR will lead visitors through Downtown Kansas City’s newest communal artist studio facility Kunstraum (“art room”) KC during ARTicipation. Schonhoff will also read from The Studio Reader: On the Space of Artists, a 2010 book of essays edited by Mary Jane Jacob and Michelle Grabner that explores historic interpretations of environments for artistic production and myths surrounding artists and their sites for art making.
