Rachel’s Café Has New Menu, Enhanced Appeal
There’s a great little lunch place in town where everything is made fresh to order and the sauces are prepared from scratch. And, by the way, it’s glatt kosher, supervised by the Vaad HaKashruth of Kansas City.
Many members of the community are already familiar with Rachel’s Café at Village Shalom, the only full-time kosher restaurant in the Kansas City area. The eatery recently updated its menu, ambiance and social-media presence to whet more appetites than ever.
The new menu offers a number of standard items and several daily specials. Features include Rachel’s Café’s new signature sandwich, the “Shalom Club.” Freshly made soups, salads, flatbread pizza and “Build Your Own Sandwich” selections offer something for everyone.
The signature Shalom Club sandwich at Rachel’s Café is piled high with roast turkey, salami and pastrami.
“We also have ‘grab-and-go’ items and drinks,” explained Tiffany Graham, Village Shalom-Morrison Senior Living front-of-the-house supervisor. “Everything is fresher and tastier. We’re also freshening up the look” with placemats and floral centerpieces bedecking the dining tables.
Rachel’s Café has also upped its online presence with a new Facebook page where visitors can view the daily specials and, in the near future, download coupons for discounts and special offerings. Visit Facebook.com/RachelsCafeVS for more information – and be sure to “like” Rachel’s Café while you’re there.
In the next few weeks, Rachel’s Café plans to install a direct phone line so customers can place call-in orders. The restaurant is open to the public 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; it is closed on federal and Jewish holidays.
“It’s really a community place,” Tiffany remarked. “Our residents enjoy it, and families and friends like to gather here for good food and a comfortable atmosphere. We want to make it a great dining experience for everyone.”
