Epsten Gallery Presents ARTicipation Pop-up Studio 2016
Public Opening Reception:
Sunday, May 15, 1- 4 p.m.
Experience ARTicipation Pop-Up Studio 2016: “Time & Place”, a dynamic, open-studio environment with art-making stations for children, families and adults of all ages and abilities. Share the fun and excitement of contributing to an evolving community art exhibition and discover your inner artist by creating art for the exploration stations including a “Puzzle-Piece Mural,” a 3-dimensional “Time-Line Installation,” and a “Community Curated Wall.” Art supplies and a range of creative, inspirational materials for visitors will be provided at a “Maker’s Station” in the Epsten Gallery.
This is the fifth annual ARTicipation exhibition program in which the Epsten Gallery is transformed by individuals who create work in self-guided areas, or as participants in a schedule of community art workshops. Once again, the exhibition also features a Resident Art Show, a salon-style installation of artwork by Village Shalom residents who partake in regular art sessions sponsored by the Epsten Gallery.
A series of collaborative workshops co-led by area artists, creative professionals and art therapists, Sherri Jacobs, MS, LMFT, MA, ATR and Kaley Wajcman, MA-ATR, will occur throughout the exhibition. Participating artists, organizations and individuals in the Kansas City area include: Belger Crane Yard Studios, InterUrban ArtHouse; Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS), Kansas Art Therapy Association, Family Focus Children Services of Johnson County Mental Health, Midwest Jewish Artist’s Lab in partnership with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (JCC), J Camp (JCC), Gloria Baker Feinstein, Lynn Kaufman, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Beniah Leuschke, Miles Neidinger, Kati Toivanen, and Joseph Williams, founder of Operation Art.
