A Statement From Matthew E. Lewis, President & CEO
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the LaManno/Hastings family, as well as the other families affected by the tragic events that took place yesterday on our campus and at the Jewish Community Center.
Thank you to all the local law enforcement and emergency responders. We have had a tremendous outpouring of support from our community and across the world. There are no words to express our gratitude for the concern and support we have received.
We are extremely proud of the way our staff and residents reacted during the crisis. Due to the policies, procedures and emergency preparedness training that Village Shalom has in place, our staff responded appropriately to the crisis, ensuring the safety and security of our residents. We are thankful to them and the first responders who made sure that our campus was locked down and secure until the immediate crisis was over.
We are addressing the grief and trauma counseling needs of our residents, families and staff, and we are increasing our security levels for the foreseeable future.
As saddened as we are by this event, we will continue to provide quality care and support for our residents and their family members.
