Village Shalom Featured in ‘Great Ideas’ Webinar
Village Shalom has lots of great ideas. One of them – Village Shalom University (VSU) – was featured in the recent “Great Ideas” webinar hosted by the Association of Jewish Aging Services for its member organizations across North America. AJAS serves nearly 100 Jewish-sponsored nursing homes, senior housing communities, service organizations and outreach programs, all of which had the opportunity to view the online seminar.
Staff members presented a brief introduction to Village Shalom University as part of the recent AJAS “Great Ideas” webinar.
Village Shalom was one of eight senior-care organizations selected to offer a 7-minute-or-less glimpse at an innovative program they have successfully implemented. Akin to “speed dating,” the webinar gave viewers an opportunity to learn about new concepts that might be pertinent to their own elder-care environments.
Village Shalom’s “VSU” program is a weeklong, university-style educational opportunity taught by and for Village Shalom residents, staff, family members and other members of the community. First implemented in 2011, the novel approach to lifelong learning received the 2012 Excellence in Innovation Award from another senior-care association, LeadingAge Kansas.
