Capital Campaign - Memory Care
The Household Model is revolutionizing Alzheimer’s care through a methodology focusing on the design of the physical environment, the development of self-led staff teams, and an adherence to resident routines and desires. This shift in thinking draws on a connection between an environment and the behavioral response it evokes.
Just like at home, guests entering each memory care household ring a doorbell and are invited in through the front door. Once inside, they find the traditional staples of home – a kitchen where residents enjoy family-style meals, a comfortable living room, and an outdoor patio for sun and fresh air. The apartments are separated from the family space, providing a comfortable sanctuary away from the rest of the household. In the Household Model, residents direct their own lives – getting up when they want, deciding how to spend their days, and even sharing in household responsibilities.
The new Household Model community will improve quality of life for residents, caregivers and family members alike. Residents in communities that adopt the Household Model participate more often and experience less anxiety and depression. It has also proven to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. The benefits of these factors carry over to family members, as fewer outside concerns allow them to focus on just being spouses, children and grandchildren.
