We understand choosing a senior living community is a big decision. We want to be a helpful resource, wherever you are on your senior living journey. To guide you, we\u2019ve provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our community. We welcome residents of all faiths and backgrounds to our community. We offer traditional and liberal Jewish services on campus, as well as monthly Catholic and Protestant services. We also provide transportation to local houses of worship each weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n Yes, we offer kosher options for every meal of the day from our Vaad-supervised kosher kitchen. Kosher meals are available in Rachel\u2019s Caf\u00e9 and the dining room, and can be delivered to independent living residents.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n Pets are permitted in all independent living residences at Village Shalom. When you visit, please speak with a team member to find out more about our pet-friendly senior living.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n Yes, we provide both scheduled and unscheduled transportation. We have two full-time drivers along with a 24-passenger bus and an eight-passenger van, both of which are wheelchair accessible. This allows for transportation for both activities and medical appointments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n Patients who are cognitively challenged, whether from Alzheimer\u2019s or other forms of dementia, require more attention and a higher level of security than residents in assisted living<\/a>. Our program is structured to build confidence in an environment that promotes choice and celebrates accomplishments through familiar schedules and surroundings. The assessment determines the resident\u2019s all-inclusive level of care, so you will always know what your monthly charges will be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n Short- or long-term skilled nursing<\/a> by trained professionals is often called for after an illness or injury. Some conditions that may require skilled nursing care for seniors include: All staff members at our assisted living facility<\/a> are certified or licensed by the state of Kansas. Through our staff development department, Village Shalom offers and encourages all staff to be first-aid and CPR certified.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n While you\u2019re a resident at Village Shalom, you may receive treatment from our therapy department with a doctor\u2019s order. Physical, occupational and speech therapies are all available on campus either in your apartment or at the Wang Rehabilitation Center. Aquatic therapy is available in the Spa & Wellness Center.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s an upfront sum to help cover community operating expenses and ensure you have priority access to higher levels of health care, in case you ever need it. Your entrance fee is based on the size of residence you choose and the number of occupants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n The independent living<\/a> monthly service fees vary based on the size of your residence and the number of occupants. This comprehensive fee covers a variety of services and amenities, including your meal plan, maintenance, housekeeping, utilities, scheduled transportation, concierge services, fitness center, activities and events, and much more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n Assisted living on the Village Shalom campus is private pay; however, there are some additional payment options available to residents. Long-term care insurance as well as veterans benefits can provide you or your loved one with a significant reduction in your monthly fees.
