Since 1912, Village Shalom has upheld a sacred promise — that every resident will receive dignity, compassion, and quality care, regardless of financial resources.
For more than a century, that commitment has defined who we are and how we serve. Each year, fulfilling that promise now comes at an annual cost of more than $2 million in financial assistance. Generous donors help cover part of that amount, and Village Shalom must draw from its operating budget to make up the rest. Philanthropy bridges this critical gap, ensuring that every resident continues to receive the care and community they deserve.
That bridge of generosity stretches across generations — from the early days of the Jewish Home for the Aged to 25 years on the Helzberg Campus. It’s built by individuals and families who believe, as resident Judy Jacobs beautifully put it, that “everyone deserves to be treated with respect and love.”
Gifts to the Ages of Excellence campaign continue this legacy. They sustain the financial assistance program, fund meaningful programs, and provide compassionate healthcare that allows residents in need to remain at home within our community. Each contribution, no matter the size, helps preserve a promise that has guided Village Shalom for more than 110 years.
As we celebrate 25 years on the Helzberg Campus — and look ahead to the next century of service — philanthropy remains the bridge between compassion and care, and the foundation of a community built on dignity for all.
