Volunteer Opportunities in Kansas City: Celebrating Our Everyday Champions at Village Shalom

At Village Shalom, we’ve been talking a lot about champions lately.

As part of our Summer of Champions, we’re celebrating the people who show up, step in, and make a difference every single day. And while some champions wear jerseys, many of ours simply show up with a smile and a willingness to help.

Our volunteers are at the heart of that.

And with April being Volunteer Appreciation Month, it feels like the right time to say it clearly:

We truly couldn’t do what we do without them.

Volunteer Opportunities That Make a Difference

Our volunteers show up in ways that matter.

They sit with residents and listen to stories.
They help with programs and events.
They jump in when an extra hand is needed.

Sometimes it’s something small, like a quick visit or a conversation. Other times, it’s helping create moments that really stick with someone.

Either way, it makes a difference.

Supporting Seniors Through Volunteering in Kansas City

What our volunteers bring goes beyond helping—they bring connection.

At Village Shalom, located in the Kansas City area, volunteers play an important role in building relationships, sparking conversations, and making our community feel even more like home. For residents, that can turn an ordinary day into something special. For families, it’s peace of mind. For our staff, it’s support that truly matters.

It all adds up.

Why It Matters

There’s a lot that goes into caring for a community like Village Shalom—but at the center of it is people.
People who care.
People who give their time.
People who show up.
Our volunteers are a big part of that, and we’re incredibly grateful.

Thank You

To every volunteer who has spent time with us—thank you.
Not just during Volunteer Appreciation Month, but all year long. What you do matters more than you probably realize.
You help make this place feel warm, connected, and full of life.

Want to Get Involved?

If you’ve been looking for volunteer opportunities in Kansas City, we’d love to have you.

We’re currently looking for volunteers for our Father’s Day Run on June 21, and we still need about 50 people to help make it happen. You can sign up at fathersdayrun.org.

If events aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other ways to get involved here on campus. Just fill out the volunteer form on our website, and our Volunteer Coordinator, John Gilbert, will reach out to you.

There’s a place for everyone here—and it really does make a difference.
