The Next Generation of Care
The upcoming campus expansion will strengthen our continuum of care through the construction of a new free-standing Household Model memory care community, and a revitalized resort-style short-term rehabilitation center that will include expanded therapy space and the latest preeminent therapeutic equipment.
Household Model Memory Care Community
The new memory care community will be constructed and staffed as a true Household Model. The Household Model is an industry best-practice that applies a three-pronged approach to memory care by making homelike adaptations to the design of the physical environment; focusing on the whole person with an emphasis on cognitive, physical and emotional abilities that remain – not on losses; and developing decentralized self-led teams of staff who form deep relationships with the residents they serve.
The three-story memory care community will feature three 16-residence households (two assisted living and one skilled nursing), each with its own shared community living and its own therapy space, salon and chapel.
Short-term Rehabilitation Center and Therapy Gym
The project will also include a major renovation of Village Shalom’s existing space to create a resort-style short-term rehabilitation center. The renovation will create 24 private short-term rehabilitation suites.
The repurposing of existing space will also free-up more than 5,000 square feet for the creation of a new therapy gym – increasing the size of Village Shalom’s existing therapy space by roughly 50 percent. The gym will feature state-of-the-art equipment, treatment areas and a therapy garden with multiple outdoor terrains.
The memory care community is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2019, and the new rehabilitation center is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020.
