One of those champions in our Memory Care neighborhood is Lynette Plaisted, LPN, who has spent the past 10 years caring for residents in our community—and supporting the families who love them.

Lynette’s work in memory support isn’t just professional—it’s personal.
After caring for a family member diagnosed with dementia at a young age, she understands the uncertainty, emotion, and responsibility families carry when making care decisions.
“This person needs a lot of guidance… a lot of help… but at the same time, they don’t understand what’s going on around them.”
That experience guides how she cares for every resident—with patience, empathy, and deep respect for who they are.
When families begin exploring memory care in Kansas City, one of their biggest concerns is whether their loved one will feel safe, known, and truly cared for.
For Lynette, that starts with time and connection.
“You’re actually able to deal with each individual… give them that time they deserve.”
That time allows her to build relationships, understand routines, and anticipate needs—creating a sense of comfort and familiarity for residents.
“This is their home. They don’t want to feel like you’re just rushing in and rushing out.”
Lynette believes every resident deserves to feel involved in their own life.

“They have that power to contribute in the quality of life that they want.”
This approach helps preserve dignity while providing the structure and support each person needs.

“We’re not only taking care of residents… we’re also taking care of their families.”
